Program Director

In-Sight is looking for an experienced Program Director to supervise a range of educational and outreach programs that align with In-Sight’s mission. The Program Director is responsible for the delivery and overall success of each program. The Program Director also supervises the Programming Coordinator and informs management on progress and performance. The Program Director is essential to In-Sight’s success and is part of a professional team that strives to work collaboratively with other staff and the board of directors.

Location: Brattleboro
Start Date: Fall 2019

Responsibilities include:

  • Initiating and setting goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization

  • Planning the programs from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones, and processes

  • Assist Executive Director in developing or approving budgets and operations


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

  • Experience working with youth in inclusive environments

  • Willingness to engage, learn and grow continuously

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership and drive responsibilities through to completion.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple simultaneous tasks and demands.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize projects, be flexible and initiate follow-through with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

  • Experience developing and maintaining effective collaborative working relationships

  • Provide effective and responsive service to volunteers and the public

  • Ability to employ flexibility and creativity in the face of ambiguity and challenge.

  • Ability to use Google Suite and Microsoft Office

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Successful completion of background checks 

  • Digital and/or Analog Photography experience\

  • Skills Preferred:

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop Suite

  • Knowledge of Squarespace website management 

  • Basic graphic design experience

Compensation: This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with a salary range of $35,000-$37,000.00 commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes generous paid time off (25 days after 6 months, plus up to 15 paid holidays), a healthcare stipend, and flex time.

Essential Functions:


  • Supervise Program Coordinator

  • Supervise Programming-specific internships

Program Development and Planning

  • Develop curriculum for all programming with oversight from the Programming Committee

  • Plan and organize programming including core curriculum, partnerships, community programming and engagement with the program coordinator

  • Maintain communication with partner organizations, educators, participants, and donors

  • Foster new partnerships with area organizations

  • Maintain a presence within the program and its ongoing relationships.

  • Organize and delegate logistics and participation in travel programs

  • Draft and distribute information to Executive Director regarding partner organizations, educators, participants, and volunteers.

  • Co-teaching partnerships and other programming as needed

Program Outreach & Participant Selection

  • Announce and organize programs and applications on social media, In-Sight website, flyers, presentations, school visits, etc. 

  • Outreach to past and potential participants; announce program events and projects. 

  • Coordinate with staff PR and outreach for core classes and partnerships.

  • Supervise application review and selection process for travel program participants.


  • Oversee the recruitment of volunteers

  • Overseeing and implement volunteer training

  • Solicit feedback and create measurable outcomes for volunteers

Exhibits and Events

  • Coordinate local exhibits and events

  • Organize local participant contributions to shows and events

  • Print work for exhibitions and end-of-session final work

  • Organize visiting artist talks

Fundraising & Finances

  • Work collaboratively with Executive Director and Development Associate with fundraising events

  • Assist ED with grant possibilities

  • Assist staff and board with auction solicitation, production, promotion, and installation

  • Maintain working knowledge of financials with ED

Board & Committees

  • Contribute to programming updates for board 

  • Assist in coordinating with heads of committees and committee members as needed

  • Co-Run Programming and Exposures committees


  • Writing and coordinating Mailchimp e-newsletters  with staff

  • Social media oversight of all accounts

  • Updating and maintaining In-Sight and Exposures website with staff (as needed)
