Details

Summer Session: April 29th-August 19th

The Photo Club will meet on Mondays from 4pm to 6pm. For the Summer Session, the first meeting will be on April 29th. You will have the option to re-join the Club each session (Spring, Summer, Winter).

* You can sign up for Photo Club at ANY TIME. Enrollment will be open, so if there is space, you are welcome to join whenever that may be.

Prerequisite

Photo Club members need to have taken at least one In-Sight Intro to Photography (either digital or analog) class. We want to ensure that you will be comfortable with the type of projects and events that we will be participating in. If you have an understanding of how to use an SLR camera (either digital or analog), but you haven’t taken a class at In-Sight, contact our Operations & Program Manager, Rachel Boettcher (rachelb@insight-photography.org) to discuss joining the club.

PROJECTS

Each session the Club will plan and enact a youth-led project that can include social justice themes, enrich the community, and/or express their creative concepts.

Together, club members will decide what kind of projects they want to undertake either as a group or independently. With the help of In-Sight’s experienced staff and industry experts, club members will create projects that are meaningful to them. Projects will be on display in In-Sight’s gallery at the end of each session or out in the community.

Street Team

The In-Sight Street Team allows club members to photograph events in and around the Brattleboro area. Club members can choose events they would like to photograph and align with their interests and schedules. A potential event must meet the following criteria: for a nonprofit or community organization that serves youth or social justice oriented causes. Events can include local sporting events, community events, live music, speeches, photo booths, and more.

While the club members will maintain the copyright of their images they shoot at these events, they will also understand that they will be delivering their work to the partner organization holding the event. The partner will have the opportunity to utilize the images for their marketing, social media, and other uses, but will not be allowed to sell the images. Club member’s name will be included with the image unless otherwise specified.

Street team allows club members to develop their technical photography skills, as well as build their interpersonal and professional skills. They learn preparation, time management, active listening, responsibility and professionalism in real-world situations, and they get to have fun while doing it!

Club Fee

Much like our other classes, the club fee will work on a sliding scale. This will help to cover the cost of the supplies and equipment, facilities, and the staff to run the club.
