Our Goal: $15,000

Our goal is for all youth and families to participate in programs no matter their financial ability. Your gift today makes this possible by...

...supporting a summer program assistant position who helps teach classes and keep everything running smoothly

...supporting student scholarships

...transporting students on excursions for our outdoor photography programs

...paying for supplies & materials like film, paper, memory cards, and more

...feeding students healthy snacks during day-long summer programs

Info & Directions

About the Gardens: The 1 1/2 acre Hayward  Garden is surrounded on all sides by acres of meadows. It is centered on  Mary and Gordon's Hayward's  1838 cape originally built by the Ranney Family which they bought in 1983.   (To see pictures of the garden and a map of its layout, go to: haywardgardens.com). Given Mary was born and grew up on a farm in the North Cotswolds Hills of England and Gordon grew up on an orchard in NW Connecticut, their garden is a hybrid of these two influences: a linear design combining hedges and a clear itinerary which leads through more than a dozen separate yet related planted areas in both sun and shade. They see to the maintenance largely by themselves but one day a week Miranda Hall from Saxtons River helps. Flowers bloom throughout the growing season, punctuated by around 30 large terracotta pots filled with annuals.

Directions to 508 McKinnon Road and Parking
Go to Putney Center and turn left (if coming from points south) on the Westminster Road. Drive roughly 4 miles north on that road. Pass the first street sign to McKinnon Road but take the second sign ( this is a U shaped road) by a group of mailboxes.  You'll see parking signs to a three- acre meadow where you can park. There will b e signs directly across McKinnon Road into the garden.

Attire: Dress for the Vermont Spring! We’ll be walking through the gardens and sharing brunch together outdoors.
